Wicked Weed Brewing
Wicked Weed Brewing was started by two families that had a vision back in 2012. The original Brewpub is located on the southern part of downtown Asheville surrounded by plenty of other brews, food, and entertainment.
Wicked Weed has expanded over the years to two other locations that each have a different atmosphere to enjoy food and drinks. The Brewpub is close to downtown Asheville, the Funkatorium is located in the South Slope, and Wicked Weed West is a taproom in Candler, NC.
Over the years, Wicked Weed has expanded to bottling and selling to multiple distributors across state lines. Due to their growth, Wicked Weed is now available in shops to enjoy the brews in your own home.

What Types of Beer Does Wicked Weed Brewing Have
Wicked Weed Brewing has a large selection of beer on tap. Primarily, Wicked Weed creates IPAs and Sours but they do have Ales and Wheats. While Wicked Weed does have their well-known staple brews, they are consistently creating new flavors to try. We tried multiple flavors because who goes to a brewery to try only one but two of our favorites are described here.
Fresh Pressed: This wheat ale is created with pineapple, mango, and guava. The straw-colored hazy is a MUST HAVE, especially during the summer! The tropical flavor is certainly mouth watering and luckily it is one of Wicked Weed’s Flagship brews.
Freak of Nature: Wicked Weed created this masterpiece with a mountain of hops creating what they call a “dank” smell. This Double IPA is certainly memorable with its citrus flavor. Be careful though, this brew has 8.5% ABV and can knock you on your butt.

What Does The Inside Have To Offer
Brewpub: Wicked Weed started at this location with the 15 barrel brewery back in 2012. Not only is there beer, Wicked Weed has a restaurant, taproom and shop for all to enjoy at this location. The relaxed atmosphere with the industrial warehouse decor, allows your entire party to mingle and enjoy a variety of food and drink creations.
Funkatorium: Located in the South Slope of Asheville, this location opened in 2014 to expand Wicked Weed’s footprint. Everyone who visits is able to enjoy a brew that may actually be brewing or aging in the nearby barrels.
Does Wicked Weed Brewing Have Outdoor Seating?
Wicked Weed has plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the Asheville weather. In both locations, certain areas have coverage or umbrellas to get out of the elements but not all. The Brewpub even has fire pits to ensure everyone stays warm during the cooler days.
Does Wicked Weed Brewing Serve Food
Wicked Weed had a ton of great food options where some may even stop by just for the food. The large menu offers plenty of variety for everyone. We expanded outside of our normal and tried the Beef Tartar. Even though it should not have been surprising, it is now one of our favorites. The Carolina Bison Chili and many of their sandwiches are also quite memorable which makes me want to visit again as I’m writing this.
What Types of Entertainment is Available at Wicked Weed
Typically one day each week, the one of the three locations has live entertainment along with a beer party. Unfortunately, we have not visited on those days but from word of mouth, the music has been very good. For the schedule, look at Wicked Weed’s website.
Are Tours Available at Wicked Weed Brewing
Tours are available at Wicked Weed Brewing each day of the week at the Brewpub. The tours are free and I highly recommend it! Try to make an appointment a few days in advance if at all possible. Make sure you take a look at Wicked Weed’s website for the specific requirements in order to partake. (ie close toed shoes is a must)

Wicked Weed Brewing is a family friendly environment where kids are welcome. Dogs allowed in the outside areas but should be on a leash.

Final Review of Wicked Weed Brewing
Wicked Weed has three locations that offer a variety of experiences for everyone. The Brewpub is the original building that has plenty of space to sit and relax. The Funkatorium is the second location that expanded for their barrel aged brews. Wicked Weed West is the third location that has opened outside of Asheville as a taproom with food trucks.
The beer and food at Wicked Weed stands out a bit from other breweries in the area. Wicked Weed seems to specialize in IPAs and Sours and pairs them with their creating menus. No matter the location, Wick Weed should be one of your stops on your craft brewery adventures around Asheville.
While you are in the area, check other breweries such as Green Man Brewing, Highland Brewing, and Sierra Nevada.
