The IBU scale will range from 1 to about 120. At the highest level the human tongue will not be able to tell the difference between bitterness levels.

What Is An American Lager?

American Lagers are made popular by large macro-breweries (largest type of brewery). This style of beer was very common after the prohibition time period. American Lagers are known for their low bitterness, moderate alcohol and golden clear color when pouring. These beers are often made with mass production in mind and flavor being less important. The lack of any strong flavor is why these beers are so widely consumed. To cut cost many brewers use adjunct cereal grains like corn and rice.

Why Beer Drinkers Like This Beer

Coors Banquet has some of the better reviews for the mass produced American Lagers. Most drinkers say they taste a slight sweetness and breadiness with almost a brown ale finish. With a moderate mouthfeel due to moderate carbonation and a overall lack of strong flavor this beer is a easy summer drinking beer. Overall price point is on the cheaper side.

Coors Banquet has seen a rise in popularity lately as the hit show Yellowstone has prominently showcased this beer in many scenes.

Why Beer Drinkers Do Not Like This Beer

Like many American Lagers from macro breweries the flavor profile is lacking. The aroma can sometimes be that of skunked hops and corn. Many beer reviews say this beer is not as crisp as many light lagers and is a little watery. Can have a slight corn flavor to it.
