Wise Man Brewing is located on the northeast side of Winston Salem and right in the middle of a pretty cool area which features three breweries, a whiskey bar and a distillery all within walking distance of each other. Several have reused old warehouses from the cigarette industry days when RJ Reynolds had warehouses all over the city.
Wise Man has grown in popularity recently and their beer is now found in several NC grocery stores.

What Types of Beer Does Wise Man Have
Wise Man Brewing has a large variety of in house beer. They have created IPAs, Ales, Sours, Pilsners, Lagers, Ciders, and Seltzers. Since their list is constantly changing you can check out their up to date list on their website.
We’ve tried several of the beers on their menu but for this we will focus on their Happiness Is The Truth Hefeweizen and Body Electric Imperial New England Style IPA.
Their Hefeweizen is exactly what you would expect. Slightly sweet with hints of banana flavoring but this one also has a subtle flavor of mango for a unique twist.
Body Electric is a double New England IPA with a profile more like an Imperai. It is hazy, heavy and fruity. While we found it enjoyable, it may be a little heavy for the rookie IPA drinkers.
If available during your visit make sure to try their Outraged Daughters Irish Red Ale which is an GABF Gold Medal Winner and a quality beer option.
What Does The Inside Have To Offer
Wise Man Brewing has a relaxed and chill vibe when you walk in. There is plenty of interior seating and their large doors open up to the outside during the warmer months. There is a large bar style area for ordering and an easy to read beer menu on the wall. Wise Man offers well kept bathrooms for their guest.
Does Wise Man Brewery Have Outdoor Seating?
Due to COVID, the outside seating area of Wise Man Brewing has expanded. It has taken over part of the parking lot but the loss of spaces isn’t an issue. Since the parking lot is sort of down a hill it provides a barrier from the traffic and keeps the outside quiet. Cornhole and other games are often setup out there for added fun. Many of their tables have umbrellas for shade, which you will need with the heat coming off the blacktop in the summer.
Does Wise Man Serve Food
Snacks such as chips and popcorn are available . However, Wise Man Brewing has a variety of food trucks that arrive almost daily. Wise Man has a great calendar of events on their website and you can find out when your favorite food truck will be parked outside. Take a look here.

Entertainment – Of Course
Wise Man schedules a variety of entertainment throughout the week. Live entertainment as well as the typical Bingo is available. The schedule is posted on Wise Man Brewing website (See Above). A rotation of local bands play at Wise Man as well as Vinyl Night.
Are Kids and Pets Allowed
Kids are allowed at this brewery although there is not much for them to do compared to some other. Aside form cornhole and a parking lot, kids will likely get bored quickly.
Are There Other Drink Options
A small selection of wine and non-alcoholic beverages are available besides beer at Wise Man Brewing for those who do not like beer, for some strange reason.
Where Can You Park At Wise Man
Surrounding the building, there is plenty of parking available. We have yet to see the lot full. There is also a huge lot behind it for Earl’s Tennessee Bourbon Bar style restaurant.
Are Tours Available at Wise Man
Wise Man does not advertise tours on their website however you can easily see their brewing equipment from the inside of the tap room.
Other Fun Facts
Wise Man Brewing is located in the iconic Angelo Bros Wholesale building which has been renovated to accommodate the brewery. Great photos of their renovation of the building are posted on their website.
The idea for the brewery started as a hobby and as time went on and demand increased, three men and their families invested. The number of brews they have created and continue to create continues to grow.
Overall Review of Wise Man Brewery
Wise Man Brewing is a great establishment to grab a beer and relax. There are plenty of food truck options that change daily which is certainly a draw. I have brought my family from out of town on multiple occasions and Wise Man Brewing is now a Go-To for all of us.
Best part? You can park here and easily walk to Radar Brewing, Fiddlin Fish and Broad Branch Distillery.
