Kernersville Brewing Company
What started as an idea in a local barn in 2014 and a one-barrel brewing system was purchased from Two Witches Winery in Danville, Virginia, has turned into a 10 barrel system and street front location right in the heart of the original downtown Kernersville area. You will almost never drive by this brewery at night and see it anything less then full as KBC has become a go to spot for local residents and beer lovers.

What Types of Beer Does Kernersville Brewing Have
Kernersville Brewing’s beer list is constantly changing due to having small batch sizes. We have included the ever-changing list here for you. An artist employee also uses chalk on a large wall to display each beer. (The patience to do this boggles my mind but it’s worth it for everyone else to enjoy). They typically have your IPA, Lagers, Ales, Pilsners, Hefeweizen, Kolsch, Ciders, Sours, and Stouts. You can also find some of their beers on tap at local restaurants around the Kernersville area like J Peppers.
We’ve tried a good portion of their menu and find the Kolsch is consistently an enjoyable option. For those who like IPA’s, make sure to try their Hazy Little Thing.
To give you a feel, here is a current menu from Kernersville Brewing.
How’s Parking At Kernersville Brewing
The Tap Room has street parking since it is on the main drag of Kernersville. There is public parking just up the block that is free for everyone every day and a few spots in the back if you are the type who likes to fight for spots and circle the building awkwardly.
The Brewhaus is situated in a warehouse complex (big blue buildings that used to be part of Reynolds Tobacco) and there is plenty of parking out front.
What Does The Interior Have To Offer
Tap Room – Large area for seating at tables as well as bar seating. On warmer days, they open up the front windows to bring in the breeze. This setup is ideal for people watching. The back also opens to an outdoor area (parking spots) where we have experienced some competitions such as cornhole. Opening the two garage doors in the front and back allows for some air movement on nice days.
KBC offers clean bathrooms at both locations.
Brewhaus – Small intimate area with a few tables and stools along with a bar..
Does Kernersville Brewing Have Outdoor Seating?
There isn’t much of an outdoor space outside of the Tap Room. Due to the building being downtown, there isn’t much space for outdoor seating. Not having an outdoor area is not a downfall. The interior experience that has the ability to open up the front and back doors makes the space much larger than it truly is. If you can grab one of the bar stools by their garage door style window you can watch people moving around the downtown Kernersville area.
Their Brewhaus only has a few tables outside and is in an old industrial complex. Not much to do at this location.
Type Of Food Options
Kernersville Nuts are available for purchase to hold you over for the main event (food trucks).
Food Trucks are scheduled each day and parked on the side street next to the building. A list of the mouth watering tastes is posted on their Facebook and Instagram accounts each week.
Entertainment – Of Course
Depending on the week, there is Trivia and/or live bands that are scheduled. There is not a designated area per se but the room is made to accommodate.
Are Kids and Pets Allowed
Friendly pets and kids are allowed. However, there is not a designated area for them to play or do their business.
Are There Other Drink Options
Kernersville brewing does offer a small wine selection, non-alcoholic beer (WHY?!?!), water, juice boxes, and soda.
In case you are powering through, they also offer Biolyte…. Yep had to research this! Basically, it is an IV in a bottle to replenish electrolytes and hydrate.
Does Kernersville Brewing Offer Tours
Kernersville Brewing does not advertise tours. However, if you have a private event set at the Brewhaus (where they actually brew the beer) they may accommodate. We were able to meet the owner during a slow time at the Brewhaus. Make sure to ask about the backstory and inspiration for Kernersville Brewing if you happen to meet him. (We forgot his name, opps)
Other Fun Facts
When you find a beer that you like, you are able to have it canned right there in front of you to take home. There is also a small selection of their beers that are already canned and ready to go.
If you enjoy being part of a club, Kernersville Brewing also has a Run/Walk club that meets. The club is free and there are a variety of fitness levels for everyone to enjoy.
The Brewhaus was the Brewery’s time to expand and become a 10 barrel brewhouse. Located within the old Reynold’s Tobacco facility, Kernersville Brewing expanded. They added a tasting area in the Brewhaus just in time to be able to accommodate their beloved fans during the Covid pandemic when the Tap Room was just too populated.
The background of this brewery is very interesting where they started in their own home. After rave reviews, they expanded into a small brewery behind a restaurant. As they became more popular, Kernersville Brewing was able to expand to where they are today celebrating their community. Kernersville Brewing has certainly made the small downtown more lively!
