An exceptional brew that appeals to consumers who don’t want to sacrifice character for a low-calorie, low-carb light beer. Masterfully developed to maintain the full flavor profile akin to our flagship Lager brand, but has only 99 calories and 3.2g carbs per 12oz serving. Skillfully pairing a caramel malt flavor and mild hop character creates a beautifully rich-colored beer with deep amber highlights that finishes smooth and clean. (From Yuengling)

Is Yuengling Lights Alcohol Content Considered High?

At 4% ABV Yuengling Light’s alcohol content is considered to be on the lower end of the beer spectrum and a common trait of American Light Lagers. With 63.2 carbs and just 99 calories Yuengling Light is considered a healthier option for those looking to avoid weight gain or on a diet, although still trailing behind beers like Michelob Ultra and Yuengling Flight.

IBU Rating Of Yuengling Light

Yuengling Light has an IBU rating of 15. The lower the number means the less bitter a beer will be. At 15 the light beer from Yuenlging is just slightly more bitter than there Flight version.

International Bitterness Units (IBU) is a scale used to measure the bitterness of beer by measuring the parts per million of isohumulone from hops in a beer, which gives beer bitterness. The IBU scale will range from 1 to about 120. At the highest level the human tongue will not be able to tell the difference between bitterness levels.

What Is An American Light Lager?

An American light lager is a lighter version of the American lager, balancing light malt bread-like flavors with subtle, yeast fruitiness. These beers will be light on the bitterness scale (Often below 10 IBU) and are considered one of the most popular beer styles in the United States. These lagers will have a very subtle flavor with a wide drinkability. Considered perfect warm weather drinking beers.

Why Beer Drinkers Like This Beer

Yuengling light is often compared to the macro brewery light beers as being similar but a little better. It does still retain some flavor and has a hint of sweetness and caramel malt. Pours like, taste light and being under 100 calories it is still a light beer. Overall carbonation is not overpowering.

Overall reviews are more favorable than Yuenglings slight “lighter beer” called Flight.

Why Beer Drinkers Do Not Like This Beer

While it does have more flavor that the mass market cans of water flavored beer, Yuengling Light is still a light beer and will lack a strong flavor profile. For some it has a grassy/grainy aftertaste and an overall watery taste. If you like some bitterness in your beer, you wont find it here.

Get this: the Sumerians, those ancient guys from Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) who invented the wheel, the plow, and writing—to name but a few—were also the first people to brew beer.
